ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Sophomore
Gianna Henriques (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshman
Jalea Abrams (Elmira, N.Y.) combined for 20 points as the Queens College women's basketball team matched up against the Lions of Molloy University inside Quealy Gymnasium in East Coast Conference play Wednesday evening.

Molloy opened the game with an 8-0 run before a jumper from junior
Amiyah Edney-Holmes (Philadelphia, PA) got Queens on the board at the 6:15 mark as the Knights answered back with an 8-0 run of their run to tie the game at 8-8 with 2:28 left in the first quarter.
But the Lions would end the stanza on a 7-3 run to take a 15-11 lead into the second quarter.
As Molloy extended their lead to six, 17-11 at the charity stripe at the 8:03 mark, Queens answered back with a 10-3 run to take a slim lead of 21-20 at the 3:51 mark with Abrams and Henriques combining for eight points.
Over the final four minutes of the second quarter, Queens would hold the Lions to one made field goal as the Knights took a 24-22 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
Molloy would tie the game on two made free throws to open the third quarter before Henriques and sophomore
Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) put the Knights on a 5-0 run as Queens took a 29-24 lead with 8:41 left in the stanza.
Both sides would trade baskets over the next minute before a layup from Edney-Holmes put the Knights 33-32 with 4:51 to go.
However, the Lions would take control over the final 14:29 of the game as they ended the game on a 29-3 run to defeat the Knights to the final score of 61-36 Wednesday evening.
By the Numbers
- Henriques tallied a near double-double with 10 points (4-of-8 FG, 2-of-4 FT) to go with eight rebounds, one block and one steal.
- Abrams tallied 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals on the evening.
- While Davis recorded six points, and three rebounds on the night.
- As a team, the Knights were held to 23.3% as they went 14-60 from the field, while the Lions shot 38.6% going 22-57 from the field.

The Knights return to action inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium on Friday (Jan. 19) evening as they welcome the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University to town in ECC play. Tip-off set for 5:00 p.m.
