WBB Rookie Davis Named to All-Met Second Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Wednesday (Apr. 19), the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced the 2022-2023 All-Met Division II Women's College Basketball Teams, and Queens College women's basketball freshman guard Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) was honored as the rookie was named to the All-Met Second Team. 
 
Davis becomes the 14th player in Queens College women's basketball program history to be named to the All-Met Team. Under head coach Bet Naumovski, Davis is the 12th player and the fourth freshman to earn All-Met Honors. 
 
In a tremendous first year for the Bronx native Davis adds another accolade to her tally after earning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year and Third-Team All-Conference honors to her list. 
 
During the regular season, Davis averaged 10.54 points (13th in ECC), 6.04 rebounds (12th in ECC), 1.92 offensive rebounds (tied 10th in ECC), 4.28 rebounds (13th in ECC), 1.77 steals (tied for 10th in ECC), 0.92 blocks (tied for 8th in ECC), 29.86 minutes (15th in ECC), five double-doubles, three 20-point games, seven 10-rebound games as she established herself as one of the top rookies of the conference appearing in 25 games earning 21 starts.
 
In the last five weeks of the regular season, Davis would turn the tempo up as she found a place on the ECC Weekly award sheet earning four Rookie of the Week honors and a Honor Roll spot.  
 
Davis would earn Honorable Mention from Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced on two occasions.
 
Davis would help the Knights return to the ECC playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 season as the #6 seed.
 
In postseason play, the rookie averaged 16.5 points totaling 33 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game on 43.3% shooting, and 54.5% shooting from deep in two starts.
 
She would lead the Knights to their first ECC semi-final trip as she tallied 16 points with four steals as Queens defeated #3 seed Mercy College on the road. In the semi-final game against Saint Thomas Aquinas College the rookie recorded 17 points with four made three-pointers to go with four rebounds and four steals. 
 
With three huge honors under her belt in her rookie campaign, Davis and the Knights will have their sights set on an even bigger picture. 
 
The 2023-2024 season schedule will be released in early September.
