ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Returning to East Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon, five Queens College men's basketball players registered in double-figures against the Lions of Molloy University at Quealy Gymnasium.

Both sides traded buckets in the early going before freshman
Eric Tynes' (Springfield, MA.) three-pointer put the Knights ahead 7-6 with 16:18 to go. The Lions would tally a 9-0 run as Queens missed their next six shots to take a 15-7 lead with 12:35 left.
Sophomore
Javier Contreras (Valley Stream, N.Y.) would stop the scoreless run for the Knights with a three-pointer at the 12:21 mark to start an 8-3 run and cut the deficit down to 18-15 with 10:07 left until halftime.
Molloy would respond with an 8-3 run to increase their lead to 26-18 before Queens forced two turnovers and tallied a 6-0 run to get within two, 26-24 with 5:17 to go in the first half.
Both sides would trade buckets for the remainder of the first half but the Knights would go into halftime trailing by two, 35-33 as Queens ended the half on a 6-3 run.
Sophomore
Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) and senior
William Ellis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) opened the second half on a 7-0 run as they took a 40-35 lead with 18:26 left in regulation.
Molloy responded with a 7-3 run as they cut the Knights' advantage down one, 43-42, but Queens used a 9-2 run to take a seven-point lead of 51-44 with 8:26 left in the game.
Three quick buckets from the Lions would see the home side cut Queens' lead back down to three, 53-50 before Tynes and Seraphin combined for a 6-0 run as the Knights took a nine-point lead of 59-50 with 4:50 left in the second half.
But the Lions would continue to find timely buckets as they stayed within striking distance.
After Ellis two made free-throws put Queens up by five, 65-60, Molloy would force overtime on a 7-2 run.
Going to overtime against the Lions for the second straight season, both sides came empty on their first two possessions of the first overtime before the home side took a 70-67 with 3:12 left in the first overtime.
Sophomore
Elijah Blackman (Queens, N.Y.) responded with a jumper to bring them within one, 70-69 before two Lions free throws extended the lead back to three, 72-69 with 2:31 left.
Queens would quickly tie the game on Ellis' three-pointer at the 2:12 mark before both sides were unable to find the winning shot as they combined to go 0-6 from the field forcing double overtime.
The Lions opened the second overtime on an 8-1 run before the Knights responded with a 4-0 run as they cut the deficit down to three, 80-77 with 2:40 left in the game.
After the Knights forced a Lions turnover, Seraphin's three-pointer would miss the mark of tying the game once again before the home side held on for an 87-80 double-overtime victory over Queens.
By The Numbers
- Ellis led the Knights with a team-high 15 points (5-21 FG), six rebounds and three steals, while Tynes tied a career-high 13 points (4-6 FG, 3-5 3PT, 2-2 FT) on the afternoon.
- Seraphin tallied 12 points (5-11 FG) to go with four rebounds, four blocks, and three steals, and senior Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) fell short of his ninth double-double with nine points (3-10 FG), career-tying 20 rebounds, and three blocks.
- For the second time this season, Carey notched 20 rebounds in a game.
- Off the bench, Contreras recorded a career-high 11 points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3PT, 3-4 FT) with five rebounds, and two assists, while junior Malik Bentinck (Queens, N.Y.) tallied 10 points (3-5 FG, 4-5 FT) to go with seven rebounds.
- Queens shot 37.8% as they went 28-74 from the field while the Lions shot 38.8% going 31-80 from the field.
- The Knights shot 64.0% from the charity stripe converting 16 of 25 attempts from the line.
- Queens won the boards battle (55-46) as the Knights held an edge of 13-9 on second-chance points.
