FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's basketball team went 1-1 last week as they opened East Coast Conference with a victory over District of Columbia Wednesday evening at home before falling short on the road against College of Staten Island on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights take an overall record of 4-3 and 1-1 in ECC play as they open a four-game homestand beginning with non-conference on Tuesday (Dec. 5) evening as the Cougars of Caldwell University visit Flushing.
The week then continues as East Coast Conference play returns for the 2023 portion of the year on Friday (Dec. 8) evening against the Saints of D'Youville University before concluding the week against the Wildcats of Daemen University on Sunday (Dec. 10) afternoon.
Queens College Knights Preview
- The Knights went 1-1 last week as they opened ECC play with a victory for the first time since the 2019-20 season with a comeback victory over UDC Wednesday evening before falling short against CSI Saturday afternoon.
- Senior guard Sunnie Diamond (Atlanta, GA) leads the offense averaging 18.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
- Diamond recorded a season-high 28 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists as he fell short of his second career triple-double against Pace (Nov. 10).
- Against Cheyney (Nov. 15) Diamond recorded his first double-double of the year with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
- On Monday (Nov. 13) Diamond was awarded a Honor Roll on the first ECC Men's Basketball Weekly Award Sheet of the year.
- Senior forward Malik Bentinck (Queens, N.Y.) is averaging 11.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
- Against Cheyney (Nov. 15) Bentinck recorded his first double-double of the year with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
- In the victory over Bridgeport on Nov. 16, the senior recorded a career-high 16 points.
- The Queens native recorded his second double-double of the year with 14 points and a career-best 13 rebounds against UDC (Nov. 29)
- On Monday (Dec. 4) Bentinck was awarded his second ECC Honor Roll spot for the second time this season.

- The Knights are looking for their first victory over the Cougars since January 2, 2011, when they earned a 78-70 victory on the road.
- Queens is also looking to earn their first victory at home over Caldwell as they are 0-3 in Flushing.
- Darnell Evans leads the offense averaging 28.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
- Derrick Bueno is averaging 13.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.

- Last season Queens ended an 11-game losing streak against the Wildcats and earned their first victory in Amherst for the first time in program history in 10 games.
- Dylan Fasoyiro leads the offense averaging 17.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.
- While Justin Glover is averaging 13.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game.

The Knights conclude the homestand on Wednesday (Dec. 13) evening as they welcome the Wildcats of Wilmington University (Del.) to town. Tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
