Griffin Paces Men’s Basketball Offense in Battle of the Knights Sunday Afternoon

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Five different Knights registered in double-figures led by junior Dante Griffin (Utica, N.Y.) second double-double of the year with a season-best 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Queens College men's basketball team matched up against the Golden Knights of The College of Saint Rose inside Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

Match Recap

The Golden Knights opened the game with a 6-2 run before junior Zyeir Lawrence (Oneonta, N.Y.) and the Knights started a 9-3 run as Queens took an 11-9 lead at the 14:26 mark.

Both teams would trade buckets over the next few possessions, however with the game tied at 15-15 with 11:46 left in the first half, Saint Rose would go on an 11-0 run as they took a 26-15 lead with 8:26 to go.

Senior Sunnie Diamond (Atlanta, GA) would break the scoreless drought for Queens at the charity stripe, but turnovers and missed field goals would hurt the Knights as Saint Rose stretched their lead into double figures.

With Saint Rose shooting over 70% from the field, the lead would balloon to as high as 18 points in the first half but the Knights would end the final 1:03 on a 4-0 run as they cut their deficit down to 14, 50-36 heading into the locker rooms at halftime.

The Knights would keep pace with the Golden Knights in scoring as they shot over 45% in the second half, but with Saint Rose shooting over 50% in the game, the Knights would be unable to mount the comeback as they fell in their final game before the Holiday break.
