FLUSHING, N.Y. – Last week the Queens College women's basketball team opened a three-game homestand as the Knights continued East Coast Conference play against D'Youville and Daemen over the weekend.
The homestand concludes on Wednesday (Dec. 13) evening as the Wildcats of Wilmington University come to town before concluding the week on the road at Assumption University Greyhounds on Saturday (Dec. 16) afternoon.
Queens College Knights Preview
- The Knights are coming off of a 0-2 week as they fell to D'Youville and Daemen at home in conference play.
- Sophomore guard Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) leads the offense averaging 14.3 points, and 5.5 rebounds to go with 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
- Davis recorded a career-high 30 points to go with nine rebounds and five steals in the victory over Bloomfield.
- On Monday (Nov. 20) Davis was awarded ECC Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors for performance.
- Rookie forward Nkiru Awaka (Hyde Park, N.Y.) is averaging 11.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.
- Awaka has tallied three double-doubles on the year with a career-best 23 points (vs. Post), 14 rebounds (vs. Caldwell), three blocks (vs. Caldwell), & four steals (vs. Felician)
- On Monday (Dec. 4) afternoon Awaka would earn her fourth straight ECC Rookie of the Week honors.
- Rookie guard Jalea Abrams (Elmira, N.Y.) is averaging 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.
- Abrams tallied a career-high 20 points against UDC on November 29.
- On Monday (Dec. 11) afternoon Abrams earned her first weekly awards honors as she was named Rookie of the Week.
