Game Day Preview: Men’s Basketball Concludes Home Stand Before Hitting the Road to End the Week in Albany

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Last week the Queens College men's basketball team went 2-1 as they earned two victories over regionally-ranked opponents in Caldwell and Daemen but would fall short against D'Youville.
 
The four-game homestand concludes on Wednesday (Dec. 13) evening as the Knights welcome the Wildcats of Wilmington University to town before hitting the road for the final time in 2023 as they match up against The College of Saint Rose on Sunday (Dec. 17) afternoon.

Queens College Knights Preview

  • The Knights went 2-1 earning victories over #10 Caldwell and #7 Daemen but would fall short against D'Youville.
  • Senior guard Sunnie Diamond (Atlanta, GA) leads the offense averaging 18.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
    • Diamond recorded his second double-double of the year with a season-high 33 points, and 11 rebounds to go with five assists in the victory over Daemen Sunday afternoon.
    • Against Cheyney (Nov. 15) Diamond recorded his first double-double of the year with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
    • On Monday (Dec. 11) Diamond earned his second ECC Honor Roll spot of the year.
  • Senior forward Malik Bentinck (Queens, N.Y.) is averaging 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.
    • In the victory over Caldwell (Dec. 5) Bentinck recorded a career-high 17 points and 15 rebounds.
    • On Tuesday (Dec.12) the senior earned MBWA Honorable Mention for his first regional honors of the year.
    • On Monday (Dec. 11) Bentinck earned his first ECC Defensive Player of the Week nod to go with two Honor Roll spots.

Wilmington University Wildcats Preview

  • Wilmington enters the week with an overall record of 5-4 and are riding a three-game win streak entering Wednesday evening.
  • It will be the second meeting in program history against the Wildcats and first at home.  
  • The Knights fell 92-74 on the road last season in the first-ever meeting.
  • Taalib Holloman leads the offense averaging 15.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
  • Amiri Stewart is averaging 11.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.

The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights Preview

  • Saint Rose enters the week with an overall record of 3-5 and will match up against D'Youville on Friday evening before hosting the Knights on Sunday afternoon.
  • It will be the second All-Time meeting against the Golden Knights in program history.
  • Queens fell short in their first-ever meeting at home last season to the score of 79-75.
  • Tristian Jeffries leads the offense averaging 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game.
  • While Christian Pierre-Louis is averaging 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

The Knights conclude 2023 at home on Saturday (Dec. 30) afternoon as they welcome the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College to town.
