FLUSHING, N.Y. – It was a tough loss against the #5 team in the region before the Thanksgiving break for the Queens College men's basketball team before a short six-day break to prepare for conference play.
Now East Coast Conference play opens on Wednesday (Nov. 29) evening as the Knights prepare to welcome the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia to town. The week will conclude in Staten Island, N.Y. on Saturday (Dec. 2) afternoon as the Knights match up against the Dolphins of College of Staten Island.
Queens College Knights Preview
- The Knights fell in their lone game of the week against regionally-ranked #5 Dominican University of New York on Wednesday afternoon.
- Senior guard Sunnie Diamond (Atlanta, GA) leads the offense averaging 24.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
- Diamond recorded a season-high 28 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists as he fell short of his second career triple-double.
- Against Cheyney (Nov. 15) Diamond recorded his first double-double of the year with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
- On Monday (Nov. 13) Diamond was awarded a Honor Roll on the first ECC Men's Basketball Weekly Award Sheet of the year.
- Senior Forward Malik Bentinck (St. Albans, N.Y.) is averaging 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.
- Against Cheyney (Nov. 15) Bentinck recorded his first double-double of the year with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
- In the victory over Bridgeport on Nov. 16, the senior recorded a career-high 16 points.
- On Monday (Nov. 20) Bentinck was awarded a Honor Roll on the second ECC Men's Basketball Weekly Award Sheet of the year.
University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Preview

- The series is tied 2-2 with both teams having earned wins at home and away throughout the four contests to date as they meet on Wednesday in game one of a two-game series.
- Last season it was a series split as both teams defended home court.
- Aaron Goldstein leads the offense averaging 13.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
- While Jordan McAllister is averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
