Women’s Basketball Projected Sixth in ECC Preseason Poll as Season Tip-offs in Rockville Centre

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The 2023-2024 women's basketball season tipoffs on Saturday (Nov. 11) afternoon as the Queens College women's basketball team opens the new year competing in the sixth edition of the CACC/ECC Conference Challenge with the hosting rights going to Molloy University Lions this year.
 
On Oct. 31 the ECC announced the 2023-2024 Women's Basketball Preseason Poll and the Knights have been projected to finish sixth in the poll and take the last spot in the six-team ECC Women's Basketball Postseason Tournament.
 
Last year's Runner-ups St. Thomas Aquinas College are slated to finish top of the league while the defending champions Daemen University are projected to finish second.
 
District of Columbia is slated to finish third, while Mercy University earned the fourth spot in the ECC poll.
 
D'Youville University is projected fifth and the Knights were voted to finish sixth.
 
College of State Island earned the seventh spot, while Molloy was voted eighth and Roberts Wesleyan rounded out the poll at ninth.
 
2022-2023 Season Recap
  • Last season head coach Bet Naumovski and the Knights finished the year with an overall record of 9-20 and 5-11 in league play as they earned the #6 seed in the ECC Tournament and made their first appearance in postseason play since the 2017-18 season. 
  • Sophomore guard Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior guard Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned ECC Third-Team All-Conference and will once be looking to lead the way as team leaders.
  • It would be a spectacular season for Davis who would earn ECC Rookie of the Year and rounded the year by making All-Met Second Team.
  • The Knights are in search of their fourth ECC title in program history with the last title coming in the 2015-16 season.
  • The Knights are looking to end a two-game losing streak to open the calendar year with the last season opener victory coming during the 2019-20 season when the Knights defeated Jefferson on November 9, 2019, to the final score of 63-58. 
Thomas Jefferson University Rams Preview

Series Record: 7-10
Current Steak: L2
Last Win: November 9, 2019 (Neutral 63-58)
Last Loss: November 13, 2022 (Away 56-79)
  • Last season the Rams went 28-5 overall as they advanced to the NCAA East Regional Final.
  • It will be the 18th meeting between both sides with Queens trailing the All-Time series 7-10.
  • The Knights are looking for their first victory over the Rams since the aforementioned 2019-20 season and are looking to end a two-game losing skid against their non-conference foe. 
Chestnut Hill College Griffins Preview

Series Record: 1-4
Current Steak: L3
Last Win: November 10, 2018 (Neutral 87-77)
Last Loss: November 12, 2022 (Away 45-86)
  • Last season the Griffins went 19-10 overall and made the CACC Postseason Tournament.
  • It will be the fifth meeting between both sides with Queens trailing the All-Time series 1-4.
  • The Knights are looking for their first victory over the Griffins and end a three-game losing skid since Queens earned an 87-77 victory on a neutral court in Rockville Centre during the 2018-19 season.
