LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. – Returning to East Coast Conference play to conclude the week, the Queens College women's soccer team traveled to Lincoln University, PA for a matchup against the Lions of Lincoln University at Lincoln University Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Led by junior
Julia Ragone's (Centereach, N.Y.) first-half brace and rookie
Ava Angiuli's (Wantagh, N.Y.) first career goal, the Knights earned their first ECC victory of the season with a 3-0 win over the Lions.
With the win, the Knights improved their record to 4-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.

Playing in windy and rainy conditions Saturday afternoon, it would be the Lions who would record the first two shots of the match.
But the Knights would open the scoring in the 12
th minute of play on a through ball from freshman
Anna Tavantzis (Holbrook, N.Y.) to Ragone for the Centereach native to beat the Lions goalie through the right side for a 1-0 advantage.
Queens would remain on the offense for the remainder of the half as they rattled seven shots over the next 20 minutes of play.
Playing on a restart in the 33
rd minute, Ragone would double the Knights' advantage on a long ball from senior
Hayley Matthews (Freeport, N.Y.) to rookie
Cassidy Pong (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) before the junior beat the Lions goalie once again for a 2-0 lead.
Queens would go into halftime having outshot the home side 11-3 for a 2-0 lead.
The Knights wasted no time opening the second half on the attack as a set piece opportunity was turned away. But a 40-shot yard from Angiuli would beat the Lions goalie as Queens took a commanding lead of 3-0 in the 47
th minute of play.
Queens would play out the remainder of the game with minimal pressure to earn their first ECC victory of the season and earned their third shutout of the year to the final score of 3-0.
