SPRINGFIELD, MA. – Opening the month of October on the road, the Queens College women's soccer team traveled to Springfield, MA for a non-conference matchup against the Yellow Jackets of American International College Wednesday afternoon at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
Playing under tough and very hot conditions, the Knights were unable to rally as they fell 3-0 to the Yellow Jackets.
Match Recap
- Graduate student goalie Erin Kelly (Massapequa, N.Y.) was called into action in the opening 10 minutes of play as she denied the Yellow Jackets a shot on goal.
- On the counterattack, senior Hayley Matthews (Freeport, N.Y.) would land the Knights' lone shot on goal in the 11th minute of play.
- AIC would take a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute of play as a Yellow Jackets curled off the top left corner to beat a flying Kelly.
- It would be all AIC to begin the second half as they tallied four shots.
- Looking to get Queens back into the match, senior Aida Rose Dydasco Pedemonte (South San Francisco, CA) would record a shot in the 58th minute of play but it would sail out right.
- AIC would close out the game with two goals in the second half to take the first meeting between both sides in program history to the final score of 3-0.
By the Numbers
- Matthews and Pedemonte registered the lone shots for the Knights.
- Kelly recorded eight saves in the afternoon.
