Bentinck Tallies Double-Double in Non-Conference Action at Cheyney

CHEYNEY, PA – Junior Malik Bentinck (Queens, N.Y.) notched his second career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while three other Queens College men's basketball players scored in double figures, however cold shooting in the final minutes of play would derail the Knights victory Saturday afternoon against the Wolves of Cheyney University in non-conference action.

Game Recap

The Wolves got the scoring started with a 4-0 run before sophomore Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y.) and freshman Eric Tynes' (Springfield, MA.)  put the Knights on a 5-0 run. But both sides would continue to trade buckets as the game featured a total of 15 ties and 16 lead changes.

Neither side was able to build a lead larger than four in the first half as Queens continued to stay within distance.

Trialing 29-26 with 2:21 left in the first half, Bentick would lead a 7-4 run as the Knights went into halftime tied 33-33.

Just three seconds in resumption, Queens continued their momentum as sophomore Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) put the Knights 35-33.

For every run the Wolves put together, the Knights would continue to find an answer.

With the Knights trailing 46-45 with 10:03 to go in the game, senior Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Tynes put together a 9-2 run as they took a 54-48 with 7:25 left.

However the Wolves would respond with a 9-4 run of their own to tie the game at 57-57 with 5:12 in the game.

Bentinck and Tynes combined for a 5-2 run as the Knights reclaimed a lead of 62-59.

But Queens would miss their final five shots over the final 2:01 of play to drop the non-conference action to the final score of 66-62.
