FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Sunday afternoon sophomore
Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y) recorded a career-high 21 points to lead the Queens College men's basketball team offense as the Knights hosted the Wildcats of Daemen University in East Coast Conference action inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium.

The Knights raced out to a quick 9-0 lead before a 5-0 run by the Wildcats cut the score down to 9-5 with 17:30 to go in the first half.
Queens would respond with an 8-1 run as rookie
Eric Tynes (Springfield, MA.) knocked down his second made three-pointer before Chester completed a three-point play and senior
Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) knocked down two free throws to put the Knights up by 11, 17-6 at the 16:14 mark.
The Wildcats answered back with an 11-2 run as they trimmed Queens' lead down to 2, 19-17 with 12:38 left in the first half.
Queens would extend their lead to four, 21-17 before the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run to take a 26-21 lead. A long-distance shot from Chester would bring Queens within two, 26-24 before another 9-2 by the visitors saw them extend their lead to nine, 35-26 with 5:16 remaining until halftime.
The Knights would be held without a field goal for over four minutes of play before a jumper from sophomore
Tyron Wright (Camby, IN) stopped the drought.
Daemen extended their lead to 12 points, 40-28 but the Knights would end the final 1:43 of the first half on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit down to seven, 40-33 at halftime.
Both sides would trade buckets as the Knights continued to keep the deficit to nine on several occasions.
Trailing by nine, 52-43 at the 14:03 mark, Chester would lead the Knights on a 14-6 run as they trimmed the Wildcats' lead down to one, 58-57 with 10:04 left in the game.
After a Wildcats free throw saw Daemen increase their lead back to two, 59-57, both sides would go scoreless from 9:14 to 6:47 before Queens brought their deficit back down to one on two separate occasions.
But the one-point deficit of 62-61 with 5:46 to go would be the closest Queens would get within of a comeback as Daemen went on a 7-1 run to extend their lead back to seven before the visitors earned the series split with an 82-72 victory over Queens Sunday afternoon.

- Chester tallied a game-and-career-high 21 points (6-13 FG, 7-7 FT) to go with five rebounds and five assists.
- Wright recorded a career-high 15 points (6-10 FG) with six rebounds while Carey fell short of his eighth double-double notching 12 points (4-11 FG) with nine rebounds and three blocks on the afternoon.
- Queens shot 38.7% as they went 24-62 from the field while the Wildcats shot 55.4% going 31-56 from the field.
- The Knights shot 75.0% from the charity stripe converting 19-of-26 attempts from the line.
- Queens won the rebounds battle with a 37-31 edge, 20-9 advantage on second-chance points.
- The Wildcats held a 15-8 edge on points off turnovers as they capitalize on 11 Knights turnovers.
