Three Knights Registers in Double Figures Against American International Tuesday Afternoon

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – Returning to non-conference action on the road, the sophomore duo of Aalia Carlson (Montclair, N.J.) and Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Queens College women's basketball team offensively for the second consecutive game in a row as they matched up against the Yellow Jackets of American International College at Henry A. Butova Gymnasium Tuesday afternoon.

Game Recap

It was the home side who quickly rattled off to an 8-0 start forcing the Knights to take an early timeout just 7:32 into the first quarter.

Carlson would respond out of the timeout as a deep shot from the sophomore got Queens on the board at the 6:45 mark.

With the Yellow Jackets leading 12-5, Reeves and the knights would start a 7-0 run from the 2:43 mark to the 1:40 as Queens tied the game 12-12.

But the home side would end the first quarter on a 7-2 run as they took a 19-14 lead into the second quarter.

Two made free throws from Khadija Demry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) would bring the Knights within three, 19-16 with 8:56 left until halftime before AIC extended their lead to seven, 23-16.

Freshman Graciella Gardner's (Newark Valley, N.Y.) first field goal of her career would break the scoreless run for the Knights at the 6:27 mark as Queens got within five, 23-18.

After both teams went scoreless for the first 1:45 into the third quarter, a made free throw by Reeves would help break the drought as Queens went on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit down to 35-33 with 6:17 left in the stanza.

The Yellow Jackets would break their own drought as they extend their lead to four, 37-33 before the Knights went on a 10-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 43-37, with 1:18 left in the third quarter.

The Knights would take a 43-40 lead into the last 10 minutes of play as they held the home side to 2-17 from the field on 11.8% shooting with four turnovers.
