MBB Carey Earns ECC Defensive Player of the Week Honors; Seraphin Awarded Honor Roll Spot

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference office announced Week Ten of the men's weekly reports, and Queens College men's basketball senior center Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors, while fellow teammate and sophomore guard Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) earned a Honor Roll spot.

Defensive Player of the Week – Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) | Center
 
For the second time this season, the senior center has earned his second Defensive Player of the Week honor following a week where he averaged 19.0 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks as he tallied two double-doubles on the week recording 38 points, 31 rebounds, four blocks, and four assists. 
 
Carey began the week with his sixth double-double of the season with a career-high 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks against STAC before concluding the week with 16 points, and a career-high 20 rebounds against Mercy. The 20 rebounds are the most by an ECC player this season and the first 20-rebound performance in Knights' history since the 1976-77 season.

 
Honor Roll – Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) | Guard
 
Continuing his hot scoring streak, Seraphin has earned his first weekly award honors of the season as the sophomore finds himself on the Honor Roll sheet. 
 
Seraphin averaged 13.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks as he recorded 26 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks in two contests. The sophomore tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high three blocks against STAC before finishing the week with his first career double-double with 13 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and five assists against Mercy on Saturday as Seraphin extended his double-digit scoring streak to 10 games.
 
UP NEXT: Men's Basketball returns to action on Friday as they open the second half of ECC play as the Saints of D'Youville University come to town. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
