FLUSHING, N.Y. – Playing in drizzling conditions compared to the high heat from Sunday's match, the Queens College women's soccer team welcomed the Eagles of Post University to Flushing for a Tuesday evening non-conference game.
It was the Eagles who would score an early goal as a free kick bounced between the defenders as senior goalie
Ariana Vargas (Brentwood, N.Y.) was unable to get through the traffic as the Knights fell behind 1-0 in the 10
th minute of play.
The visitors would outshoot the home side 4-0 before the Knights were able to get their first shot off in the 17

Sarah Marino's (Enfield, Conn) shot deflected off the right woodwork. A minute later, junior
Hayley Matthews's (Freeport, N.Y.) shot would be denied by an alert Eagles goalie as the Knights picked up the intensity.
In the 22
nd minute, junior
Marina Pappas's (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) shot would be denied as Queens searched for the equalizer.
After earning a corner in the 27
th minute, sophomore
Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) executed a perfect set piece for the Knights as graduate student
Synne Flem (Baerum, Norway) put away the cross with a header to tie the game 1-1 for her first goal of the season.
The Knights would attempt two more shots in the last 10 minutes of the first half but they would go into halftime tied 1-1 as Queens outshot the Eagles 7-6.
As Vargas and her defense continue to fend off the Eagles' attack in the second half, Queens were forced to defend the majority of the game.
