ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The month of September concluded on the road as the Queens College women's soccer team battled the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference action.
An early Redhawks goal would put the Knights behind 1-0 after the fifth minute of play. Freshman
Katelyn Villacres (Bayside, N.Y.) would make two more saves as she kept her team in the game.
In the 29
th minute, sophomore
Julia Ragone's (Centereach, N.Y.) shot went out left as Queens looked to tie the game.
The Knights would get another chance just before halftime but sophomore
Kristina Gambino's (Deer Park, N.Y.) shot would get denied by the Redhawks goalie as Queens went into halftime trailing 1-0.
The home side maintained the majority of the possession as they hung on to a slim 1-0 lead.
After a Roberts Wesleyan foul gave the Knights a set piece, graduate-student
Synne Flem (Baerum, Norway) shot went out top as Queens were unable to tie the game.
The home side would close out the game with their second goal of the game in the 75
th minute to defeat the Knights 2-0 on the afternoon.

- Villacres made three saves on the afternoon.
