Women’s Soccer Opens Two-Game Road Trip Beginning with #21 Mercy Wednesday

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Wednesday (Sept. 21) afternoon, the Queens College women's soccer team continues East Coast Conference play as the Knights travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. with a matchup against Mercy College Mavericks at Mercy Field.
 
Game time: 1:00 P.M.
 
Series History
  • Record: 11-9-2
  • Last Matchup: October 22, 2021 (L 1-3) Current Streak: L6
  • It will be the 23rd meeting between both sides with Queens leading the overall series 11-9-2 
  • The Knights will be looking to end a six-game losing streak to the Mavericks
  • On the road, Queens is 4-7 against Mercy 
  • The Knights' last win came during the 2012 season When they won 3-2 at home.
  • The last road win during the 2011 season was when the Knights defeated the Mavericks 3-0.

Queens College
  • The Knights are 1-5, 1-1 ECC, and are coming off a 1-0 win over Daemen in ECC play Saturday afternoon.
  • Sophomore Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) and graduate student Synne Flem (Baerum, Norway), and junior Marina Pappas (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) have scored a goal apiece on the season. While Ragone leads the Knights with three points having tallied an assist on the season.
  • Pappas tallied her first career game-winner in the 1-0 victory over Daemen.
  • On Monday (Sept. 19), the East Coast Conference office awarded Pappas a spot on the Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll Sheet. (Link)
  • The Knights have been picked to finish fifth in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll.
Mercy College
  • Mercy is 6-1 overall, 2-0 ECC on the season, and are riding a six-game win streak having defeated D'Youville 4-0 this past weekend.
  • The Mavericks are ranked #25 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches Poll (Link)
  • Kayla Camacho leads the offense having tallied five goals and three assists for 13 points. 
  • While Nikki Bermudez has notched 12 points for five goals and two assists. 
  • Mercy has been picked to finish first in the ECC Preseason Coaches poll.
UP NEXT: Queens concludes the month of September on the road as they travel to Rochester N.Y. on Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon with a matchup against Roberts Wesleyan University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 P.M.
