Men’s Soccer Returns in Non-Conference in New Haven against Regional Ranked SCSU

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Wednesday (Sept. 14) evening, the Queens College men's soccer team returns to non-conference play as they travel to New Haven, CT with a matchup against the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University at Jess Dow Field.  
 
Game Time: 7:00 P.M.

Queens College
  • The Knights are 4-2 on the season and riding a two-game win streak into Wednesday's game.  
  • Sophomore Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) leads the offense with a team-high seven points, three goals, and one assist. 
  • While junior Leo Pinto (Forest Hills, N.Y.), and freshman David Oprea (Oslo, Norway) have combined for 11 points, four goals, and three assists on the season.
  • In goal, senior goalie Dario Giovanni Cruz (Guadalajara, México) has made 23 saves for a 4-2 record with one shutout.
  • On Monday (Sept. 12), the East Coast Conference awarded Oprea Offensive Player of the Week for the rookie's five points, two goals, and two assists week as he helped the Knights go 2-0 last week. (Link)
    • The rookie tallied the lone goal in the Knights' 1-0 victory over D'Youville in the ECC opener.
  • Cruz was named Defensive Player of the week as he made nine saves and earned his first shutout victory of the season in the Knights' 1-0 victory over D'Youville to open ECC play. (Link) 
Southern Connecticut State University
  • The Owls are 3-0-2 on the season and are coming off a 0-0 draw against Saint Rose in NE10 play. 
  • Yannick Hilpert leads the offense with seven points, three goals, and one assist. 
  • While Joshi Munoz has tallied five points for two goals and one assist. 
  • SCSU is ranked #2 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II East Region Poll released Sept. 13 (Link)
UP NEXT: The Knights return to conference play at home on Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon as they host the Wildcats of Daemen University at QC Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
