FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College volleyball team continues their road stand with a two-day stop in Lakewood, New Jersey as they partake in the Georgian Court Invitational hosted by the Georgian Court University Lions from Friday (Sept. 2) to Saturday (Sept. 3) at GCU Wellness Center.
The Knights will face off in a non-region matchup against Shepherd University Rams on Friday before meeting up against regional opponents in the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights before concluding the invitational against the Lions on Saturday.

Shepherd Series History
- Record: 5-3
- Last Matchup: September 5, 2008 (W 3-0) | Current Streak: W1
- It will be the first meeting against the Rams since the 2008 season when they met the Rams in the East Stroudsburg Invitational.
Saint Rose Series History
- Record: 5-3
- Last Matchup: October 19, 2021 (L 0-3) | Current Streak: L2
- It will be the eighth meeting in program history between both sides with the Knights leading the overall series 5-3.
- The Knights will be looking to end a two-game losing streak against the Golden Knights.
- Last season Queens were swept 3-0 at home in a closely contested three-set affair.
Georgian Court Series History
- Record: 7-8
- Last Matchup: September 11, 2021 (L 0-3) | Current Streak: L3
- It will be the 16th meeting between both sides with the Lions breaking the series tie last season with a 3-0 victory over the Knights.
- In the last 10 matchups, the Knights are 5-5, but the GCU Wellness Center has been unkind to the Knights as Queens holds a 1-5 away record against the Lions.
Queens College
- The Knights take a 2-3 overall record into the weekend.
- Queens are coming off a 3-0 loss to Dominican University New York on Tuesday evening.
- On Monday (Aug. 29) freshman Ryann Frontera (Dripping Springs, TX) earned East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors for her performance in the Long Island Invitational hosted by the Knights.
- While senior Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, FL), and sophomore Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) were awarded a spot on the ECC Weekly Honor Roll sheet for their performance in the Knights' 2-2 start to the season.
Shepherd University
- The Rams are 5-0 to start the 2022 season having swept all five matches in the Rams Rumble.
- In their 5-0 start, Shepherd has dropped only three sets, while sweeping three matches.
- Renee Killough leads the Rams with 47 points having tallied 31 kills, five service aces, and 19 blocks.
College of Saint Rose
- The Golden Knights are off a 2-2 start having defeated Dominican University and Post University.
- Julia Cavalcanti leads Saint Rose with 43.5 points having tallied 24 kills, 11 service aces, and 13 blocks.
- Jessica Vargas leads the team with 32 kills.
Shepherd University
- The Lions are off a 1-3 start to the season having defeated Le Moyne College Dolphins 3-1 in the Westchester University Ramfest.
- Nylene Mateo leads the Lions with 19.5 points, 15 kills, and four service aces.
- Mariah Robles is second on the team with 18.5 points and 15 kills.
UP NEXT: Following the Georgian Court Invitational, the Knights will use the week to prepare for the SCSU Tri-Match hosted by Southern Connecticut State University Owls on Saturday (Sept.10). The Knights will matchup first against Le Moyne
(first of two meetings this season) before concluding the day against the Owls. First Serve is set for 10:00 A.M.
