FLUSHING, N.Y. – Robert Davis announced his resignation as head coach of Queens College Men's and Women's Cross and Track & Field teams to accept a position in the Education Sector in the Petersburg Public School System.
"We wish nothing but the best for coach Davis as he takes this next step in his career." Said
Rob Twible, Director of Athletics.
"We look forward to bringing on a new leader to take the baton and run with it."
Since taking charge of both cross country and track and field Knights teams in August of 2017, Davis and the Knights have continued to build a competitive program. During the 2019 outdoor season, the men's outdoor track & field concluded the season as runners-up in the Men's East Coast Conference Outdoor Championship, their highest finish since winning it all during the 2013 season.
While both the Cross Country programs have seen several Knights produce top-25 finishes in their respective meets throughout the years, the Track & Field teams have yielded the most success with a total of 65 student-athletes earning All-Conference honors. During the 2019-20 Indoor season, four Knights were named to the NCAA DII All-East Region team.
In the 2021-2022 season, Four Knights earned Indoor All-Conference honors, while 12 Knights earned Outdoor All-Conference accolades.
"Once a Knight always a Knight! I expect to see big things come from the cross country and track and field program here at Queens College in which I help set the foundation." Said Davis.
"I want to give a huge special Thank You to my great assistant coaches Olga Ladino Romero and Andrew Saulpaugh. Can't build a house without excellent people that know their craft."
A successor will be named in the upcoming days.
