Volleyball Opens a Season-High Eight Game Road Stand

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Tuesday (Aug. 30), head coach Stefan Leger and his young Knights squad will open an eight-game home stand beginning with a trip to Orangeburg, New York as they match up against the Dominican University New York Chargers.

  • Tuesday's matchup will be the first match taking place in Orangeburg as all previous three meetings have come at Neutral sites.

Queens College
  • The Knights opened the 2022 season falling to two of the toughest East regional opponent as they were defeated 3-1 by New Haven and 3-0 by Bridgeport on Friday.
  • Queens would bounce back on Saturday as they swept Nyack 3-0 and edged out Post in a 3-2 five-set thriller. 
  • Senior Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, FL), and Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) led the way with double-doubles as Deodat notched 12 kills and 12 digs, while Franco tallied 12 kills and 23 digs. 
  • On Monday, the East Coast Conference office awarded Deodat and Franco performances as they were named to the Honor Roll sheet. 
  • While freshman Ryann Frontera (Dripping Springs, TX) put up an impressive performance in four matches including notching 25 digs twice. 
  • Frontera would earn the first ECC Rookie of the Week honors for her performance. 
  • Deodat leads the Knights with 47.5 points having tallied 35 kills, seven service aces, and six blocks. 
  • While Franco has tallied 36 kills and is coming off a combined 23 kills in the wins over Nyack and Post.
Dominican University New York
  • The Chargers are 0-3 on the young season having fallen to Saint Rose, Chowan, and Shepherd. 
  • Dominican were swept in two of their matches, while they took Chowan to four sets. 
  • Kaitlyn Carr leads the Chargers with 33 kills, and 19 digs and Lindley McCutcheon has notched 16 kills in three matches. 
  • Dominican went 8-19 last season and has been voted to finish fifth in the CACC North Division.  
UP NEXT: On Friday (Sept. 2) the Knights travel to Lakewood, New Jersey as they matchup against Shepherd University hosted by Georgian Court University. First Serve is set for 5:00 P.M.
