FLUSHING, N.Y. – Strength and Conditioning is such a huge part of the Student-Athlete experience and in early June, the Queens College Department of Athletics completed its renovation of the varsity weight room.

The varsity weight room is a facility reserved for training athletes, and is run by the Athletic Training Staff, and will serve 16 NCAA Division II programs. The space has long been neglected and equipment was limiting. The old weight room had an old basement feel with outdated and worn equipment. It was a difficult area for the student-athlete and coaches to showcase to potential recruits.

"This upgrade will have a strong impact on the athletic programs and it is one of many overhauls that have occurred within athletics at Queens College over the past several years." Stated Rob Twible, Director of Athletics. "It will help add as a highlight for our coaches as recruits arrive on campus and are deciding where they want to spend the next four years."

The room underwent a renovation cost of $100,000 which saw an Aesthetic improvement and equipment upgrades which will help improve the training experience. Upgrades such as brand-new rubber flooring, LED Lighting, installations of mirrors around the room, new benches, and complete set of equipment were added and finalized with a fresh coat of paint.
