Women’s Basketball vs. Mercy College Game Day Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team concludes their two-game homestand as they host Mavericks of Mercy College Wednesday evening. 
 
The Knights will be looking to even the season series at home. Queens is 8-2 in their last 10 home against Mercy.

The Knights fell in the first meeting of the season in Dobbs Ferry. 
 
Scouting Queens College
 
Queens (2-16 overall, 1-10 ECC) will look to even the season series and end a two-game skid as they host the Mavericks. 
 
On the season Queen is averaging 63.7 points on 39.1 percent shooting, 40.6 rebounds, and 14.6 assists per game. 
 
In East Coast Conference play, the offense is led by freshman Jennah DeGout (Bronx, N.Y.) averaging a near double-double with 12.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. DeGout averaged 22.5 points and 20.0 rebounds against Staten Island and UDC to earn ECC Player and Defensive player of the week. The rookie earned her second player of the week honors and her first defensive player of the week accolade. 
 
Scouting Mercy College
 
Mercy College (10-10 overall, 8-4 ECC) is on a four-game losing streak after starting conference play with an 8-0 record. 
 
As a team, they are averaging 65.8 points on 38.3 percent shooting, 39.6 rebounds, and 13.2 assists per game on the season. 
 
Katie Walls leads the Mavericks averaging 16.4 points per game in conference play. Wall has tallied eight games of 20 points or more scoring efforts including a season-high 28 against UDC. While Taysha Bender is averaging 15.3 points per game and tallied a season-high 26 points against UDC.
 
UP NEXT: On Saturday, Feb. 12, Queens concludes their season series against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill. Tip-off set for 1:00 p.m.
