Men’s Basketball Regular Season Finale Game Day Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's basketball team concludes the regular season with three straight home games beginning with Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday (Feb. 22), D'Youville University Thursday (Feb. 24), and Daemen College Saturday (Feb. 26). 
 
The Knights are in the race for a postseason spot as they enter Tuesday in fifth place in East Coast Conference play.

Scouting Queens College 
 
Queens (9-10 overall, 7-8 ECC) is coming off a season sweep over Bridgeport Sunday afternoon and will be looking to end the regular season on a high. 
 
As a team, Queens is averaging 70.2 points on 43.5 percent shooting, 42.7 rebounds, and 13.0 assists per game. 
 
Sophomore Dion Herrington (Englewood, N.J.) leads the offense in conference play averaging 12.1 points per game. Herrington has tallied three 20 points scoring efforts this season and has been named on the ECC honor roll on two occasions.
 
While freshman Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) has tallied nine double-digit scoring efforts and is coming off a game-high 17-point performance in the victory over Bridgeport.  
 
Before tip-off against Daemen College, the Knights will honor their graduating seniors Evan Goldberg (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Eddie Mehmetaj (Jamaica, N.Y.) saturday afternoon.
 
Scouting Roberts Wesleyan College

Roberts Wesleyan (11-10 overall, 9-7 ECC) are coming off a loss to Molloy College Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Redhawks are averaging 81.7 points on 46.9 percent, 36.1 rebounds, and 14.1 assists per game. 
 
The offense is led by Ja'Kair Sanchez averaging 14.9 points per game in conference play and has tallied six 20 points or more performances this season including a season-high 29 points against Staten Island.  Sanchez tallied 20 points in the victory over Queens. 
 
While Rian Carter is averaging 13.4 points to help the scoring and tallied a season-high 25 points in the victory over District of Columbia. 
 
Scouting D'Youville University

Current Streak:  W1
 
D'Youville (2-23 overall, 1-14 ECC) are on a nine-game losing streak with their lone conference win coming against Mercy College. 

The Saints are averaging 66.7 points on 38.2 percent shooting, 36.9 rebounds, and 11.6 assists per game.
 
The offense is led by Chris Stineman averaging 13.1 points per game and has 11 double-digit performances on the season with a season-high 33 points against St. Thomas Aquinas College. In their last meeting against Queens, Stineman tallied 13 points 
 
While Mason Putnam is averaging 11.9 points per game and has 15 double-digit performances on the season including three 20 point performances. Against Queens, Putnam tallied 11 points in their last meeting. 
 
Scouting Daemen College
 
Overall Series vs. Daemen:  2-15
Last Matchup: L 76-61, January 16, 2022
Current Streak: L10
 
Daemen (18-7 overall, 15-1 ECC) enter the week coming off a 1-1 week as they fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College to suffer their first conference loss of the season before bouncing back with a victory over Mercy College. 
 
The Wildcats are averaging 78.6 points on 47.5 percent shooting, 41.2 rebounds, and 16.4 assists per game. 
 
Andrew Sischo leads the offense averaging 21.9 points and 12.4 rebounds per game. Sischo has been named ECC Player of the Week seven times this season. While Sean Fasoyiro is averaging 12.3 points per game and was named defensive player of the week back on December 13.
