Women’s Basketball vs. University of Bridgeport Game Day Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team opens a three-game homestand to conclude the year as they welcome the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport to Flushing on Sunday in East Coast Conference action.
 
Sunday's meeting will be the 46th meeting in program history with the Knights trailing the overall series 21-24 dating back to the 1993-94 season. In Flushing Queens is 5-5 in their last 10 meetings.

The Knights fell 67-66 on the road in their last meeting. 
 
Scouting Queens College
 
Queens (4-18 overall, 3-12 ECC) is 2-2 in their last four meeting but are coming off a hard overtime loss of 67-66 to Roberts Wesleyan College Wednesday evening. 
 
On the season Queens is averaging 63.3 points on 39.1 percent shooting, 39.8 rebounds, and 14.5 assists per game. 
 
In East Coast Conference play, the offense is led by freshman Jennah DeGout (Bronx, N.Y.) averaging a double-double with 11.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. DeGout has tallied six double-doubles on the season including five in conference play. 
 
The rookie has been named ECC player of the week on two occasions and has earned Defensive Player of the week honors. 
 
While freshman Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 12.7 points per game and has tallied back-to-back double-doubles after a three-game absence. Reeves began the week tallying 10 points and 10 rebounds in the victory of Staten Island on Monday before notching 19 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday. 
 
Scouting University of Bridgeport

Bridgeport (7-15 overall, 4-11 ECC) is on a two-game losing skid having suffered losses to D'Youville and Molloy. 
 
As a team, they are averaging 65.3 points on 40.4 percent shooting, 40.4 rebounds, and 14.0 assists per game on the season. 
 
In conference play, Janiece Loney leads the offense averaging 13.7 points per game, and has tallied 17 double-digit scoring efforts this season. Loney tallied a season-high 25 points in the loss to Mercy College on December 19th
 
UP NEXT: On Thursday (Feb. 22) the Knights welcome the Saints of D'Youville University for the first time in program history. Tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
