Men’s Basketball at Roberts Wesleyan College Game Day Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's basketball team concludes the regular-season road trip portion of the schedule in Rochester, N.Y. as they take on Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks Wednesday evening. 
 
Wednesday meeting will be the 17th meeting in program history with the Knights leading the overall series 10-6. The Knights are riding a two-game winning streak over Roberts Wesleyan and will look to extend the streak Wednesday. 
 
The Knights are 6-2 in the Voller Athletic Center, while the series in Flushing is even at 4-4. In 2019-20 the Knights swept the Redhawks.

The Knights used a strong first half and never looked back as they defeated the Redhawks 79-59 in Flushing. 
 
Scouting Queens College 
 
Queens (8-9 overall, 6-7 ECC) are on a three-game losing skid and will be looking to turn things around come Wednesday evening as the race for the postseason gets even hotter. Following Wednesday's road trip, the Knights will end the regular season with four straight home games in seven days. 
 
As a team, Queens is averaging 68.6 points on 42.2 percent shooting, 42.9 rebounds, and 12.4 assists per game. 
 
Sophomore Dion Herrington (Englewood, N.J.) leads the offense in conference play averaging 11.1 points per game. Herrington has tallied two 20 points scoring efforts this season including a career-high 23 points against Molloy on the road. 
 
Senior Eddie Mehmetaj (Jamaica, N.Y.) is averaging a near double-double on the season and has tallied four double-doubles on the season including averaging a career-high 9.6 points per game. 
 
Scouting Roberts Wesleyan College
The Redhawks (9-9 overall, 7-6 ECC) are coming off a 95-87 victory over the District of Columbia Saturday afternoon. 
 
As a team, they are averaging 86.8 points on 46.3 percent shooting with 35.5 rebounds and 13.7 rebounds per game. 
 
The offense is led by Ja'Kair Sanchez averaging 13.8 points per game in conference play and has tallied four 20 points or more performances this season including a season-high 29 points against Staten Island. 
 
While Rian Carter is averaging 13.8 points to help the scoring and tallied a season-high 25 points in the victory over District of Columbia. 
 
UP NEXT:  The Knights return to Flushing on Sunday (Feb. 20) as they open a four-game homestand starting with the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport. Tip-off set for 1:30 p.m.
