Men’s Basketball Carey Earns MBWA DII/III Honorable Mention

NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Tuesday (Dec. 6) afternoon, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced the first Weekly awards of the season, and Queens College men's basketball senior center Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) has earned an honorable mention for his performances in the two games played last week. 
 
Carey who earned East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Dec. 5) honors has added another accolade to his final year.

After leading the Knights to their first win over Daemen University in Amherst, the senior from Bay Shore finished the week averaging 11.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks recording 23 points, 30 rebounds, and eight blocks in the Knights 1-1 week. 
 
Carey began conference play with his second double-double of the season with 13 points and career-high 17 rebounds and four blocks against DYU before leading the Knights to their first victory in conference play with his second consecutive double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks in the victory over Daemen University.

Head coach Matt Collier and the Knights conclude the fall schedule inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium as they open a five-game homestand beginning on Friday (Dec. 9) evening against the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University on First Responder Night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 P.M.
