Men’s Basketball Tune-up for ECC Play with Two Non-Conference Games

FLUSHING, N.Y. – With the East Coast Conference schedule set to open up in a week and a half, the Queens College men's basketball team continues their preparations with two non-conference games this week. 
 
The week opens with Alliance University (Formerly Nyack) coming to town on Wednesday (Nov. 23) evening before Queens hits the road with a trip to Springfield, Massachusetts on Sunday (Nov. 27) afternoon as they match up against the Yellow Jackets of American International College. 
 
Scouting the Knights
  • The Knights are 2-2 on the young season and are coming off a 75-61 victory over Holy Family Saturday afternoon.
  • Queens is averaging 68.8 points per game on 41.1% shooting, and are averaging 37.7 rebounds per game. 
  • Senior William Ellis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) leads the offense averaging 15.3 PPG, and is coming off a season-high 22 points in the victory over Holy Family.  
  • Sophomore Sunnie Diamond (Hiram, GA) is averaging 13.5 PPG and recorded a career-high 17 points against Pace.
  • On Monday (Nov. 21), The East Coast Conference office awarded Ellis a honor roll spot on the second Men's Basketball Weekly Report of the Year. Link
  • The Knights are 3-0 against Alliance and will look to keep the streak going. It is the first home against the CACC opponent with the first three meetings taking place on the road.  
  • Queens will be looking to defeat the Yellow Jackets for the first time since the 2002-03 season and just the second road game Springfield since the 03-04 season.

  • Alliance is 4-1 on the season and enter Flushing on a four-game win streak having defeated two regional and two non-regional opponents. 
  • They are averaging 70.4 PPG on 43.1% shooting with 37.4 rebounds per game. 
  • Isayas Aris leads the offense averaging 21.2 points per game and tallied a career-high 33 points in the victory against Mercy College.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
  • The Yellow Jackets are 0-4 on the season and will host Assumption College Tuesday (Nov. 22) evening before welcoming the Knights on Sunday.
  • They are averaging 64.3 PPG on 40.9% shooting with 32.0 rebounds per game. 
  • Jalen Jordan leads the offense averaging 13.8 points per game and tallied a season-high 21 points in the loss to Bridgeport. 
Next Tip-OFF
  • East Coast Conference play opens in Buffalo, New York as head coach Matt Collier and the Knights match up against the Saints of D'Youville University on Friday (Dec. 2) evening before concluding the Upstate trip against the Daemen University Wildcats on Sunday (Dec. 4) afternoon.  Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. against the Saints.
