Women’s Basketball Opens Home Schedule Against Post Thursday Evening

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team continues non-conference action Thursday (Nov. 17) evening as the Knights welcome the Eagles of Post University to Flushing.

Scouting the Knights
  • The Knights are 0-2 to start the season having fallen to Chestnut Hill and Jefferson in the ECC/CACC Conference Challenge in Philadelphia. 
  • Queens is averaging 50.5 points per game on 38.2% shooting, with 31.5 rebounds per game. 
  • Freshman Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) leads the offense averaging 12.0 PPG with a career-high 12 points. 
  • While graduate student Raven Pitt (Valley Stream, N.Y.) is averaging 11.0 PPG and is coming off a career-high 14 points over Jefferson.  
  • On Monday (Nov. 14), The East Coast Conference office awarded Lapertosa Rookie of the Week honors on the first Women's Basketball Weekly Report of the Year. Link
  • The Knights are looking to end a two-game losing streak to the Eagles having fallen 67-65 in a closely-contest game in Waterbury last season. 
Scouting the Eagles
  • The Eagles are 1-1 on the season having defeated Adelphi in their season opener and would fall to Le Moyne to conclude opening weekend.
  • The Eagles went 19-8 overall last season and fell in the CACC semifinals. 
  • Post is averaging 53.0 points per game on 30.3% shooting and averaging 47.0 rebounds per game. 
  • TiJanae Simmons leads the Eagles' offense averaging 19.0 per game and is coming off a 22-point performance in the win over Adelphi.

  • The Knights conclude the week in Springfield, Massachusetts on Sunday (No. 20) afternoon as they match up against the Yellow Jackets of American International College. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
