FLUSHING, N.Y. – Hosting Youth Appreciation Day as the Queens College women's soccer team welcomed Soccer Kids NYC to QC Soccer Field Saturday afternoon, the Knights matched up against the Lions of Lincoln University (PA.) in East Coast Conference action.
Led by
Sarah Marino's (Enfield, Conn) brace, seven different Knights notched goals as the Knights defeated the Lions 8-0 to earn their second ECC win of the season.
With the win, Queens moved into fourth place in the ECC standing holding a 2-4 record with six points.
The Knights took an early lead off as junior
Marina Pappas (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) executed a perfect corner kick for Marino to head open the first goal of the game in the seventh minute of play.
Queens would double their advantage to 2-0 in the 15
th minute as sophomore
Jacklyn Diel (Stony Brook, N.Y) found an open sophomore
Kristina Gambino (Deer Park, N.Y.) to bang home her second straight goal.
Sophomore
Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) would curl home her second goal of the season from 21 yards out as the Knights took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Knights would notch five goals in the second half as they shut out their second ECC opponent of the season for a final score victory of 8-0.

- Marino recorded her second career brace as the senior tallied a team-high two goals.
- While Gambino and Ragone tallied their second goal of the season.
- Junior Hayley Matthews (Freeport, N.Y.) (first career goal), junior Sara Messemer (Whitestone, N.Y.) (first goal of the season), sophomore Sarah Anderson (East Setauket, N.Y.) (second career goal) and Diel (first goal of the season) combined for four goals.
- Senior Ariana Vargas (Brentwood, N.Y.) earned her first shutout of the season.
- Queens outshot Lincoln 32-1 (17-0 shots on goal).
Before the East Coast Conference contest, the Queens College women's soccer team recognized the ECC officiating crew in support of the efforts of D2 CCA and D2 ADA to recognize the P2R Officials' Appreciation Week.
