Women’s Tennis Moves to 3-0 in ECC Play

Box Score OCEANSIDE, N.Y. – Returning to East Coast Conference play, the Queens College women's tennis swept their third match of the year as the Knights defeated the Lions of Molloy University at Point Set Indoor Racquet Club. 
 
With the win, the Knights improve to 3-0 overall, and 3-0 in ECC play. 

Doubles Play
 
The Knights got off to a quick start as new pair of senior Chloe Certain (Obernai, France) / freshman Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) defeated Brooke Williams/Amanda Oppedisano to the score of 6-2. 
 
Queens would clinch the doubles point at the #2 court as the duo of Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland) / junior Mariana Ling (Orlando, Florida) picked up a 6-1 victory over Jill Carfaro/Hannah Niggemeier. 
 
The Knights completed the sweep at #1 doubles as the #1 pair of junior Ana Tarbujaru (Valcea, Romania) / junior Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) picked up a 6-4 victory over Noor Goyvaerts/Camilla Caballero to the score of 6-4. 
 
Singles Play
 
Lamy put the knights up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Niggemeier at #4 singles. 
 
Making her conference debut, Fawzy continued the run with a 6-0 6-3 victory over Caballero to the score of 6-0, 6-3 at #2 singles. 
 
Makal would clinch the match at #1 singles as she dispatched Goyvaerts to the score of 6-2, 6-0 for a 4-0 commanding lead. 
 
Tarbujaru moved the Knights to 5-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at #3 singles over Cafaro. 
 
Ling made it 6-0 following her victory at #5 singles over Williams to the score of 6-0, 6-0. 
 
Certain completed the sweep at #6 singles as she swept Oppedisano to the score of 6-0, 6-0. 

UP NEXT: It will be a quick turnaround for Head Coach Alan Nagel and his Knights as they get set for a crucial East Coast Conference match on Saturday (Oct. 8) evening as they welcome St. Thomas Aquinas College to Flushing. The first serve is set for 5:00 P.M.
