Volleyball Concludes Homestand on Senior Day Against Mercy Saturday Afternoon

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The homestand of the 2022 season concludes on Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon as the Queens College volleyball team welcomes the Mavericks of Mercy College to Flushing on Senior Day in East Coast Conference play.

Mercy Series History
  • Record: 26-18
  • Last Matchup: October 1, 2022 (L 1-3) Current Streak: L8
  • It will be the 44th meeting between both sides and the second of the season series against the Mavericks. 
  • The Knights will be looking to end an eight-match losing streak to Mercy with the last win coming in 2017.
  • In Flushing, Queens holds a 13-8 record and is looking for its first win at home since the 2016 season when they swept the Mavericks 3-0. 
Queens College
  • The Knights are 10-11 overall, and 4-3 in ECC play. 
  • Queens is looking to end their home portion of the schedule on a high note as they are 7-3 at home this season.
  • Senior Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, Fl) leads the offense having tallied 187 kills averaging 2.49 kills per set with 10 service aces and 52 total blocks on the season.
  • While rookie Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) has tallied 179 kills averaging 2.39 kills per set.
  • Sophomore Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) is averaging 2.60 kills per set with 164 on the season with a team-high seven double-doubles.  
  • On Monday (Oct. 24), Deodat was named to the ECC Honor Roll sheet for the third time this season. (Link)
  • Queens has been tabbed to finish fourth in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll.
Mercy
  • Mercy is 12-4 overall and 5-2 in ECC play
  • The Mavericks are riding a four-game winning streak as they enter Flushing. 
  • Anyelainy Vizcaino Araujo leads the offense with 151 kills and 21 service aces.
  • While Larissa Schneid is averaging 3.27 kills per set with 144 kills on the season.
  • Mercy has been tabbed to finish second in the ECC Preseason Coaches poll. 
UP NEXT: Head coach Stefan Leger and the Knights conclude the regular season with a two-game road trip beginning on Tuesday (Nov. 1) evening as they travel to Rockville Centre, N.Y. with a matchup against the Lions of Molloy University. First Serve is set for 7:00 P.M.
