Men’s Soccer Blanked by #5 Ravens

RINDGE, NH – After a successful season opener, the Queens College men's soccer team returned to action on Saturday evening against a ranked opponent in the fifth-ranked Franklin Pierce University Ravens.

Playing their first ranked opponent of the season, the young Knights team went up against one of the most experienced teams on their schedule. But the Knights' inexperience was too much as they fell 3-0 against the Ravens. With the loss, the Knights move to 1-1 on the young season, while the Ravens improved to 2-0.

How It Happened
  • Junior Amadou Seck (Dakar, Senegal) attempted the first shot of the game but failed to hit the target.
  • A failed clearance by the Knights in the 21st minute of the first half would come back to haunt the Knights as the Ravens capitalized in scoring the opening goal of the game.
  • Freshman Leonel Zelaya (Amityville, N.Y.) attempted was blocked in the 31st minute.
  • With 38 seconds remaining in the first half, the Knights looked to have tied the game 1-1 but the goal was called back as the sideline official called offside on the Knights.
  • The second half was unkind to the Knights with the Ravens taking advantage of a young Knights squad.
  • Ravens scored in the 48th and 64th minute to put the game away for a 3-0 win over the Knights.
By the Numbers
  • Ravens outshot the Knights 11-3 (5-0 shots on goal).
  • The Knights were held without a corner.
  • In their two attempts, the Knights are winless in Sodexo Field.
UP NEXT: Non-conference play continues on Wednesday (Sept. 8) as the Knights travel to Philadelphia with a match-up against the Thomas Jefferson Rams. Kick-off slated for 3:00 p.m. from Ravenhill Field.
