FLUSHING, N.Y.- As the sun shined outside, tennis returned in the friendly confines of the QC Tennis Courts as the Queens College men's tennis team bounced back with a 7-0 sweep over the visiting Dominican College Chargers on Friday afternoon in non-conference action. Since the 2019-20 season, the Knights have won five east regional competitions in a row which includes sweeps over Adelphi (2/19/20), Bentley (2/21/20), Stonehill (2/29/20), and Dominican (3/26/21). 
 
With the win, the Knights improved to 1-1 overall on the season, while the Chargers moved to 1-2 overall.
 
Doubles Competition 
 
The knights wasted no time clinching the doubles point as the No. 3 doubles pair of sophomore 
Moritz Borges (Hunxe, Germany) / 
Omar El Shehawey (Cairo, Egypt) making his Knights debut made quick work of Angel Lugo / Tanaka Chabata with a 6-0 win. While No. 1 duo of junior 
Kareem Rashad (Alexandria, Egypt) and Sophomore
 Mariano Bibiloni (La Plata, Argentina) defeated Julien Rauber / Anthony Kwok to the score of 6-1. 
After going up 4-1 in their doubles the No. 2 duo of freshman 
Tim Ostheimer (Frankfurt, Germany) / Sophomore 
Julius Schulte (Dusseldorf, Germany) earned a hard-fought 7-6 (7-4) victory over Guilherme Salim / Marcos Lee as the Knights swept doubles play. 
 
Singles Competition
 
Slotted at No. 5 Borges dispatched Rauber to the score of 6-2, 6-0 as he improved to 1-1 at the fifth slot. The Knights would go up 3-0 as freshman 
Francisco Gonzalez (La Plata, Argentina) defeated Qalib Ladhani 6-1, 6-1. Gonzalez has won three sets in a row which includes his 6-2 first set victory over St. John's Dylan Loru from Tuesday's season opener.
 
Bibiloni would clinch the match for the Knights at the No. 4 slot as he turned a 4-1 down first set come back to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Kwok. With the match already in their hand, the Knights looked for their first sweep of the season. Demuth swept the first set 6-0 over Chabata before earning a hard-fought victory in the second set to the score of 7-6 (7-5). 
 
Shehawey making his debut at the No. 3 slot, defeated Lee 6-1 in the first set before Lee had to retire hurt giving the Egyptian native his first win of the season. Ostheimer completed the sweep for the Knights as he picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Salim at the No. 1 slot.

UP NEXT: With the postponement of their Saturday, Apr. 3, East Coast Conference opener against St. Thomas Aquinas, the Knights will enjoy a break before resuming competition in April.
