FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Wednesday (Dec. 8) night the Queens College men's basketball team opens up East Coast Conference play against fellow CUNY member College of Staten Island Dolphins. Wednesday's meeting is the first meeting between both CUNY members in the Division II Era.

Scouting Queens College 
 
Queens heads into conference play with a 2-2 overall record and will be looking to open conference play on a high note. The Knights are averaging 71.0 points per game outscoring their opponents by a 4.0 margin. They are shooting 46.7% percent from the field while averaging 42.8 rebounds, and 14.3 assists per game. 
 
The Knights have four players averaging double-digits led by the freshman duo of Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) andShamar Chester (Queens, N.Y.) who lead the offense averaging 11.8 and 11.5 points per game. While senior Eddie Mehmetaj (Jamaica, N.Y.) and junior William Ellis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) are averaging 11.5 points and 11.0 points per game. 
 
Chester and Seraphin have been awarded East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, while Mehmetaj has earned a honor roll spot in the weekly report sheet. On Monday Chester was awarded a honor roll spot by the league office. 
 
Scouting Staten Island
 
Staten Island enters the matchup against Queens with a 1-5 overall record, 0-1 in ECC, and are coming off their first win of the season defeating Pace University 73-70 on Saturday afternoon. 
 
As a team, the Dolphins are averaging 58.8 points per game on 35.4 percent shooting, while grabbing 32.0 rebounds and dishing out 12.3 assists per game. They have been outscored by a 25.7 margin in six games.
 
Bryce Waterman leads the Dolphins averaging 12.7 points per game and has tallied three double-digit scoring efforts including a season-high 28 points in the loss to Adelphi. While Messiah Mallory is averaging 11.2 points per game and tallied a season-high 18 points in the win over Pace. 
 
UP NEXT: The Knights will travel to the nation's capital on Saturday (Dec. 11) as they take on the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds. Tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
