FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's basketball team wraps up non-conference play on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Caldwell University Cougars. It will be the tenth meeting between both sides with the Cougars holding a 6-3 series lead. Queens' last win against Caldwell came on January 2, 2011, when the Knights picked up a 78-70 win on the road. The Knights have played only two games in Flushing but were defeated both times.

Queens held a late lead but were unable to close out the game as Caldwell snatched a 61-57 victory. Dwayne Henry, Jr. and Elijah Bovell led the Knights with 13 points apiece as Kevin Buron chipped in with ten points and five rebounds. The three players combined to shoot 14-for-24 from the field (58%) while
Evan Goldberg corralled 11 rebounds off the bench in 25 minutes, scoring four points as well.
Scouting Queens College
Queens (2-1) will be looking to close out non-conference on a high note and are coming off a 75-51 win over Georgian Court. In three games, the Knights are averaging 74.3 games outscoring their opponents by a 7.0 margin. They are shooting 47.5% percent from the field while averaging 44.7 rebounds, and 14.3 assists per game.
The freshman duo of
Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) and
Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y.) lead the offense averaging 13.7 and 13.0 points per game. While senior
Eddie Mehmetaj (Jamaica, N.Y.) is averaging a near double-double with 12.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Chester and Seraphin have been awarded East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, while Mehmetaj has earned a honor roll spot on the season.
Scouting Caldwell University
Caldwell (3-3 overall) comes to Flushing on a two-game losing streak. In this week's Division II SIDA East Region Media Poll The Cougars are ranked #6.
As a team, the Cougars are averaging 72.0 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting, while grabbing 42.3 rebounds and dishing out 12.0 assists per game. Anthony Cooper leads the offense averaging 21.0 points per game on 53.3 percent shooting. Having started all six games, Cooper has tallied four 20 points or more games including a season-high 31 points in the loss to Franklin Pierce.
