FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team concluded their final home game of the 2021 portion of the schedule as they match up against Molloy College Lions in East Coast Conference play Wednesday evening.
Queens (0-7 overall, 0-2 ECC) was led by freshman
Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with a team-high 12 points off the bench but the Knights were unable to make comeback as they fell 64-50 against the Lions (5-5 overall, 2-1 ECC) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
How it Happened
It was a slow start for the Knights as they found themselves trailing 9-3 before freshman
Janay Legagneur (Valley Stream, N.Y.) layup made it 9-5 but the Lions would end the first quarter on a 5-2 run to take a 14-7 lead.
The second quarter was unkind for the second game in a row for the Knights as they shot 18.2 percent (2-11 FG) from the field as they went into halftime trailing 34-13.
Trailing by 32 points freshman
Farrah Pitt (Valley Stream, N.Y.) tallied back to back three points as the Knights looked for another comeback in back-to-back games.
The Knights would tally 26 points in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Lions 26-14. But the deficit created in the first half would be too much for the young Queens squad to come back from as they dropped their second conference game of the season to the final score of 64-50.
By the Numbers
Off the bench Reeves tallied 12 points (4-of-9 FG) with six rebounds and three blocks, while Pitt tallied nine points (3-of-6 FG, 2-of-3 3p FG) to lead the offense.
