Women’s Basketball vs. Molloy College Game Day Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team will host their last home game of the year on Wednesday (Dec. 15) as Lions of Molloy College come to town for East Coast Conference action. 
 
Both sides have met each other 62 times going back to the 87-88 season with the Lions holding a 35-27 series lead. Queens was swept last season as Molloy ended the Knights' six-game winning streak over the Lions. In their last 10 games the Knights hold a 7-3 advantage.

Despite being down by four at halftime, Queens went cold in the third quarter as the Lions would complete the series sweep with a 68-45 win. Raiana Brown posted a double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. 
 
Scouting Queens College
 
Queens (0-6 overall, 0-1 ECC) will host their final home game of 2021 before hitting the road to conclude the 2021 portion of the schedule. 
 
As a team the Knights are averaging 66.5 points on 40.5 percent shooting, 41.8 rebounds, and 15.8 assists per game. Junior Khadija Demry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) leads the offense averaging 14.3 points per game, on 38.3 percent shooting. The Brooklyn native has tallied four double-digit scoring efforts including two 20-point efforts this season. Junior Tsahai Corbie (Brooklyn, N.Y.) stepped up against DUC as she tallied a season-high 21 points with five assists and three rebounds. She tallied 11 points in the third quarter as the Knights came back to tie the game after trailing by 27 points. On the season Corbie is averaging 13.2 points per game on 41.8 percent shooting. 
 
While freshman Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) averaging 9.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game on the season tallied her first career double-double with 13 points, career-high 12 rebounds, and three steals in the comeback attempt against UDC.
 
Demry has been placed on the East Coast Conference honor roll sheet twice this season.
 
Scouting Molloy College
 
Molloy enters Wednesday's contest with a 4-5 overall record and 1-1 in conference play.  The Lions picked up their first conference win of the season with a 50-37 victory over College of Staten Island on December 11th.
 
As a team, the Lions are averaging 60.1 points, 41.4 rebounds, and 12.2 assists per game. Gabriella Aspuru and Safiyyah Lee lead the offense averaging 14.8 points and 14.0 points per game. Aspuru has tallied seven double-double scoring efforts including a season-high 27 points in the win over Dominican (Nov. 28). While Lee has tallied four double-doubles on the season including 16 points and 19 rebounds in the win over Staten Island. 
 
UP NEXT: Queens travels to North Easton, MA as they go up against Stonehill College in non-conference action on Saturday (Dec. 18) afternoon. Tip-off set for 4:00 p.m.
