FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's basketball team hits the road for the first time in three weeks as they travel to Washington, DC for an East Coast Conference matchup against the University of the District of Columbia. The Knights are 12-7 overall against the Firebirds and 11-7 in conference play.
The Knights have been held winless in DC since head coach
Matt Collier's first season in 16-17 when they defeated the Firebirds 91-85 on January 28, 2017.

Seniors
Kevin Buron and
Shomari Redd posted 11 points apiece to lead Queens in the contest. Buron also added five rebounds and two steals, one of which led to a break-away slam dunk in the second half.
Eddie Mehmetaj had eight points off the bench to go along with 15 rebounds and three assists while
David Grady III collected eight points and seven rebounds.
Scouting Queens College
Queens is 2-3 overall, 0-1 in conference play, and are in the midst of a two-game losing streak.
As a team, Queens is averaging 69.6 points, 44.0 rebounds, and 13.6 assists per game. Three-point and free-throw shooting has been a struggle as they have only been able to hit 26.6 percent from beyond the arc and 56.1 percent from the charity stripe.
The Knights have three players averaging double-digits led by junior
William Ellis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) averaging 11.6 points per game, while the freshman duo of
Jayden Seraphin (Lakeview, N.Y.) and
Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y.) are averaging 11.4 and 11.2 points per game.
Chester and Seraphin have been awarded East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, while senior
Eddie Mehmetaj (Jamaica, N.Y.) and Chester have earned a honor roll spot on the weekly report sheets.
Scouting UDC
UDC is 1-8 overall, 0-1 in conference play, and is on a four-game losing streak. Their lone win came on November 22
nd when they defeated Georgian Court 73-50. They opened conference play on December 1
st falling 66-56 to Molloy.
As a team, the Firebirds are averaging 64.1 points, 33.9 rebounds, and 13.3 assists per game.
The offense is led by Kenyon Stone averaging 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Stone has tallied seven double-digit performances and is coming off a 25-point performance in the loss against Chestnut Hill on December 7
th.
