FLUSHING, N.Y. – In a high-scoring affair the Queens College women's basketball team had four score in double-figures, but the Knights would fall 87-84 to Felician University Golden Falcons on Tuesday night (Nov. 23) in non-conference action.
How it Happened
The Knights went on a 13-0 run from 7:12 to 3:27 as they took a 15-3 lead before the Golden Falcons rallied back to cut the home side lead to three (23-19) as the first quarter came to close.
The second quarter would see the score tied three times before the visitors took a six-point lead behind a Catherine Lecop three-pointer. Queens would go into halftime trailing by three as senior
Nora Gabel (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and junior
Khadija Demry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ended the second quarter on a 5-2 run.
The Knights would open the third quarter on a 7-0 run as Gabel and freshman
Jennah DeGout (Bronx, N.Y.) gave the Knights a 47-43 lead. Both sides would exchange the lead six times but would head into the final quarter tied 65-65 following junior
Tsahai Corbie (Brooklyn, N.Y.) second-chance bucket to end the stanza.
Gabel would give Queens a three-point lead (68-65) just 10 seconds into the fourth quarter. But the visitors would not go way easy and tie the game 70-70 on a three-pointer by Lecop. A 6-0 run by the Knights would push the home side to a 76-70 lead with 5:48 left to play.
Lecop would keep the visitors within striking distance with another three and cut the Knights lead down to three (82-79) with 2:31 left.
But for the third straight game, turnovers would hurt the Knights in the final minutes of play as the Golden Falcons closed out the game on a 7-2 run and steal an 87-84 victory.
