WEST BABYLON, N.Y. –  On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference office announced freshman Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y) was named Rookie of the Week in the first weekly report of the year. While senior Eddie Mehmetaj (Jamaica, N.Y.) earned a honor roll spot. 
 
Rookie of the Week
It was a stellar debut for Chester as he produced 20-points (7-of-15 FG) in the Knights' 83-78 season-opening victory over Felician. He added six rebounds and three assists as the Knights opened the season with a win for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
 
Honor Roll
In the Knights season-opening victory, Mehmetaj tallied a near triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists as Queens defeated Felician 83-78 on Saturday. Mehmetaj shot 54.5% from the field and was productive on both ends of the court as he tallied two blocks, and one steal in his 33 minutes of effort.
 
UP NEXT: Queens returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 20) as they travel to Philadelphia, PA on with a matchup against Holy Family University Tigers. Tipoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
