FLUSHING, N.Y.- The Queens College volleyball team concludes their two-game series against Mercy College Mavericks Thursday evening. The Knights are looking to end a six-game skid against Mavericks.

Queens fought hard with the set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-12 but were unable to come away with a victory. Franco led the offense with eight kills (team-high) and nine digs, while Mitchell and sophomore Alexis Deodat (Riverview, FL) tallied four kills with the former leading the way with a game-high four service aces. Sophomore Leila Hadjeb (Queens, N.Y) notched a team-high 14 digs on the night
 
Scouting Queens College Knights
 
The Knights are 3-16 overall, 2-7 in East Coast Conference, and are on a five-game losing streak. On the season Queens is averaging 8.6 kills per set having combined for 560 kills with Franco and junior Dee-Ana Mitchell (Middle Island, N.Y.) leading the way with 139 and 108 kills. Hadjeb leads the Knights defensively with 205 digs and has served up 28 aces on the season. Deodat and Anjeline Arnakis (Bayside, N.Y.) have combined for 33 solo blocks and 32 blocks assists. 
 
Scouting Mercy College 
 
The Mavericks are 10-12 overall, 5-2 in conference play, and are coming off a 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan College. Led by Larissa Schneid and Nilka Rivera Maldonado the Mavericks are averaging 11.6 kills per set with a total of 890 on the season. Schneid has 10 or more kills on 14 different occasions. She was limited to six kills against the Knights earlier in this season. 
 
Next Match-up: Queens opens a final two-game homestand starting on Nov. 7th as they conclude their two-game series against Roberts Wesleyan College. First serve is set for noon.
