KINGS PARK, N.Y. – In their final preparation before hitting the road to compete in the East Coast Conference next weekend, the Queens College men's and women's cross country team competed in the SJC Invitational Saturday morning at Sunken Meadow State Park.
Led by sophomore
Alexis Hall (West River, MD) top 50 finish, the women's side finished seventh overall, while a top 20 finish from junior
Steven Cuascut (Queens Village, N.Y) the men's placed 13
th on the day.
Women's 5K
Competing against a few ECC foes, Queens finished third among Division II opponents with a team average of 25:40:88.
Hall paced the Knights with a 30
th place finish in 22:29.80, while freshman
Nicole Colombi (Wantagh, N.Y.) was the next player to cross the finish line with a time of 24:09.84 to earn a 42
nd finish.
The next Knights player to complete the course was
freshman Natalia Cuttler (Islip, N.Y.) with the 55th spot with a time of 25:29.41.
Favour Onyinyechi Anyalewechi (Lagos, Nigeria) earned a personal-record finish completing the course in 26:56.95 to place 70
th. To round out the top 100 finishes, freshman
Melanie Rodriguez (East New York, N.Y.) completed the course with a time of 29:18.42 and
Olutoyosi Ajanlekoko (Queens, N.Y.) completed the course in 30:25.78 to record a personal best.
Freshman
Aisha Khan (East Elmhurst, N.Y. ) completed the Sunken Meadow course with a time of 40:18.38.
Men's 8K
Cuascut led the Knights with a 16
th place finish with a time of 30:03.15. Freshman
Andrew O'Gorman (Melville, N.Y.)completed the course with a time of 33:28.39 to place 60
th while graduated student
Njehan Phillip (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed 69
th in 34:43.37.
To round out the regular-season finale freshman
Valeriy Borkun (White Plains, N.Y.) rounded the course in 38:23.61, while teammate
Keith Hyland (Levittown, N.Y.) finished the course with a time of 44:46.37 to complete their preparations for the ECC championship.
