ANDOVER, Mass. (Feb. 21, 2020) - It certainly was not an easy afternoon for the Queens College men's tennis team on Friday (Feb. 21) but the Knights were able to pull off a third-straight 7-0 win by sweeping Bentley University at the Spark Fitness and Tennis Complex in Andover, Mass.
The Knights (3-1) were in for a tussle in doubles play as the visiting side would take all three matches over the Falcons, but with none being complete blow-outs.
Kareem Rashad and
Mariano Bibiloni won a 6-3 decision at first-doubles against Connor Aulson and Daniel Weitz, which was a similar score that second-tandem
Moritz Borges and
Lucas Demuth posted against Kendall Au and Mauricio Rubod.
Hugo Evangelista de Andrade and
Julius Schulte teamed up for a 6-2 triumph at the third-tandem over Tawan Rattaseri and Jordan Soifer to complete a sweep at doubles.
Singles play also favored the Knights with Rashad and Bibiloni winning at first- and fifth-singles by 6-4, 6-2 margins respectively.
Francisco Gonzalez earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at sixth-singles against Rattaseri and
Eduardo Marino nabbed a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 3 flight versus Soifer. Demuth needed three sets (6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7)) to dispatch of Rubod in fourth-singles as did
Tim Ostheimer, who defeated Aulson at second-singles by a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 margin.
Queens returns to the courts on Saturday (Feb. 29) with a 5 p.m. contest against Stonehill at the Queens College Tennis Center.
