FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2020) - The Queens College men's tennis team recorded its first victory of the 2020 spring campaign on Friday (Feb. 14) by dispatching Yeshiva University in a Division II/III cross-over contest with the score favoring the Knights, 7-0.
Queens (1-1) found the match-up with Yeshiva (1-2) much more favorable than the Thursday (Feb. 13) slugfest with Division I Fairleigh Dickinson, as the Knights were victorious in doubles in about thirty minutes.
Moritz Borges and
Lucas Demuth were triumphant in a 6-1 victory at the top tandem of doubles with a similar score at No. 2 favoring
Eduardo Marino and
Tim Ostheimer, giving the Knights the doubles point.
Mariano Bibiloni and
Hugo Evangelista completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at third-doubles.
Evangelista won his singles match at the fifth-flight in a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Eitan Jeselsohn with Bibiloni and
Kareem Rashad picking up 6-1, 6-1 wins at sixth- and third-singles, respectively; Rashad's win clinched the overall match for the Knights. Marino's 6-0, 6-1 win against Lior Brik at second-singles pushed the margin to a 5-0 score before Borges (6-1, 6-1 at No. 4) and Ostheimer (6-2, 6-3 at No. 1) nabbed the two other points to complete the shutout.
Queens will host Adelphi University on Wednesday (Feb. 19) at 12 p.m. inside the QC Tennis Center.
