Philo Rains In Five Three-Pointers For #QCWBB in Sunday Matinee at Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Jan. 12, 2020) - Rookie guard Harmony Philo made five three-pointers and scored 15 points for the Queens College women's basketball team on Sunday (Jan. 12) but the Knights were unable to come away with a victory over Roberts Wesleyan at the Voller Athletic Center in Rochester. The 75-65 defeat at the hands of the Redhawks dropped the Knights to 4-11 on the season and 1-4 in East Coast Conference play. Roberts won its sixth straight match-up and improved to 10-5 on the season and 3-2 in ECC games.

Philo also added seven rebounds and five assists in the effort for the Knights while first-year center Raiana Brown had a team-high 18 points plus eight rebounds. Point guard Tayanee Peay collected ten points and three assists as well and Zorria West poured in eight points off the bench for Queens.

Taryn Wilson's game-high 21 points led the way for Roberts Wesleyan as Emily Miller added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Sara Nady had 15 points and nine assists to go along with a five-rebound performance.

Queens led at the end of three quarters by a 54-53 score following a 60% (9-15) shooting performance in the third frame by the team. However, the Knights went cold in the fourth quarter and hit just 29% (4-14) of their shots from the field and missed all five of their three-point attempts.

Overall, QC shot 41% (26-63) from the floor and held Roberts to a similar 41% (27-66) shooting performance. The Knights were out-rebounded by a 45-34 margin in the contest but committed just 19 turnovers to RWC's 22 giveaways; however the hosts were able to convert 27 points off of those turnovers to just 16 points for Queens.

The Knights return home to host Mercy College on Wednesday (Jan. 15) at 5:30 p.m. in the North Gymnasium of Fitzgerald Hall.
