Leo Pinto kicked home an assist from
Jorge Hernandez in the 26th minute to put the Queens College men's soccer team on the board and the Knights rolled to a 2-0 shutout victory over Seton Hill University on Saturday (Sept. 28) at Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Greensburg, Pa.
How It Happened
- Pinto's strike was the sixth shot of the contest for Queens after two brilliant chances by Emgi Gousse ten minutes prior were blocked and sent back off the post, respectively. The Knights turned a counter-attack for Pinto's goal following a Marek Strzelczyk save against Alex Dysen in the 24th minute.
- Hernandez sent a free kick towards Pinto, who scored the marker to give QC the 1-0 lead.
- Gousse put home the insurance marker in the 75th minute on assists by Adrian Garcia and Paul Hayes after another free kick was headed into the box for the senior forward to make true on the attempt.
Knights That Shined
- Queens doubled up on shots in the match, outgunning the Griffins by a 20-10 margin.
- Gousse led all players with seven shots in the contest and three targets on the afternoon.
- Garcia and Hernandez had three shots while Pinto and Paul Ogoo took two attempts in the game.
- Strzelczyk made four saves to earn another shutout in net for the Knights.
