PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2019) - A second-minute goal opened the floodgates to four first-half markers as the Queens College women's soccer team triumphed over Holy Family in a non-conference match-up by a 4-2 score at Tiger Field. The victory Wednesday (Sept. 25) improved the Knights' overall record on the season to 4-3 while Holy Family fell to 1-4 with the defeat.
How It Happened
- Victoria Ramirez continued what has been a stellar start to her senior season with the game's first goal just ninety seconds into the contest. The Valley Stream native took the game's first shot which deflected off the hand of Tigers goalie Alayna McSeed to put the Knights ahead.
- Ramirez then assisted on a goal by Guro Eriksen in the twentieth minute of play, as she sent a perfect cross into the box to be tapped in by the native of Norway.
- A penalty kick goal by Sarah Marino was followed by the first QC goal from Nicole Abalco---with Ramirez assisting---as the Knights grabbed a 4-0 lead thirty minutes into the game.
- Holy Family responded with a goal late in the first half and one in the second half as well, but the Tigers could only cut the deficit in half and not any further.
Knights That Shined
- Ramirez's four-point day has given her a total of 15 points through seven contests (four goals, seven assists).
- Ramirez and Marino both took three shots and had two attempts on target in the victory.Â
- Shenae Kreps made three saves in net to pick up her third win in four straight starts.
