FLUSHING, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2019) - Despite a 15-9 shots advantage in the contest on Saturday (Sept. 14), the Queens College men's soccer team could not convert its chances into goals as the Knights fell to Assumption by a 2-0 score at Knights Field.
The Greyhounds improved to 2-1 with the win while the Knights fell to 2-2 with the loss.
How It Happened
- The visiting Greyhounds scored the game's opening goal in the 27th minute as Ruben Faria launched a free-kick past the dive of goalie Marek Strzelczyk and in off the far post.
- Assumption's insurance marker came in the 68th minute thanks to a flick-on goal from Jason Lages off an assist by Mauro Cortez.
Knights That Shined
- Cristian Villalta led the Knights with four shots attempted in the contest. Freshman midfielder Leo Pinto added three shots in the effort.
- Queens had just two targets all game, with efforts by John Sebastian Rodriguez and Paul Ogoo being turned aside by Greyhounds goalie Sebastian Jimenez.
- Strzelczyk made two saves in the cage for the Knights.
